The word ‘matiz’ means ‘shade’ or ‘hue’. In this intimate and interactive duo, Choro Matiz explore choros old and new, creating refreshing takes on classic tunes, and uncovering lesser-known gems from this wonderful musical tradition.
Andrew and Jonathan’s musical connection dates back to 2012, where they were both keys members in the formation of the popular and award-winning Clube do Choro UK. They have performed widely in the UK, and were featured on BBC Radio 3 to coincide with the opening of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
